DIN 931
DIN 931 partially threaded hex bolt: definition, dimensions, materials, ISO 4014 equivalence. Tailored quotes in Morocco.
Definition
DIN 931 defines a partially threaded hex bolt: the shank has a smooth (unthreaded) portion below the head, followed by threading over a defined length. The smooth portion improves shear resistance and alignment.
Common dimensions
Common diameters: M6 to M24. Standard metric pitch. Thread length depends on diameter per standard.
Materials and classes
Steel (classes 5.8, 8.8, 10.9, 12.9), stainless A2-70 and A4-80, zinc-plated, black. Others on request.
Uses
Shear-loaded assemblies, fastening of parts requiring precise alignment, structural and mechanical construction. The smooth portion prevents play and reduces assembly fatigue.
DIN / ISO equivalence
Equivalence: ISO 4014. The former DIN standards are now replaced or superseded by DIN EN ISO standards. For some sizes, notably M10, M12, M14 and M22, the width across flats (wrench size) may differ between DIN and ISO series. Specify the exact standard when ordering.
